Parks Building Solutions Saves the Day. 306 Maloney, “A Brush With Kindness” October 25th, AM shift volunteers and a Top three (3) sponsor. Parks staff identified that we needed additional materials and had them ordered and delivered in time for the second shift, preventing an interruption in work. They truly went above and beyond.
Mr. Joe, retired Master Sergeant: Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity conducted “A Brush With Kindness," a repair event to assist our qualifying Veteran in painting and repairing exterior siding damage to his home. The homeowner, Mr. Joe Hartland, is a Veteran and a fixture in the neighborhood where we are currently building our new construction homes on Maloney Avenue. Our Construction Team and Volunteers also built and installed railings at the side entrance of the home and built an entry accessway to his front living area for American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, installed new lighting and GFCI outlets to the exterior of his home for safety.
Again, Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity could not complete our Season of Service, Veteran Build event without the support of our community, donors, and volunteers! Parks Building Solutions saved the day by donating and delivering external siding material to complete the repair, having the material on-site for the next shift, and allowing us to maintain the project build schedule- while also providing skilled staff to support the repair.
Also supporting this event with Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity was the Cape Fear Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, donating time, volunteers (10), and a generous financial contribution to assist us and the community help this Veteran with his home repair! Corvias from Fort Liberty, NC provided skilled volunteers who demoed and rebuilt structural areas of the home. A regular event participant, the Delta Sigma Theta Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter, continuously supported us throughout the year and participated heavily in this event!

Mr. Joe, retired Master Sergeant: Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity continued completion of our “A Brush With Kindness” and repair event to assist our qualifying Veteran by completing the painting and the front deck accessway for egress and safety.
This project could not have been completed without our gracious donors and our Volunteers! Repeat volunteers for this final Season of Service, Veteran Build Event, included the Breezewood Church and Fayetteville Christian School staff, specifically Nicole Santiago, her mother Sandra, and Carrie Clegg who finished painting and assisted in installing lighting and GFCIs on the exterior. The Givens Family volunteered for the second time during our Season of Service and were value added to the project! Spartan Nash, as a key sponsor and donor, also showed up in person with a full staff to assist in the building of the front deck and deck foundation, your support is greatly appreciated!
