POSITION DESCRIPTION: DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

DEPARTMENT: Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity

LOCATION:       3833 Bragg Blvd, Fayetteville NC, 28303

REPORT TO:     Chief Executive Officer

 

SUMMARY:  Responsible for developing and implementing marketing plan and strategy to increase Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity’s visibility in the community to include the Habitat ReStore. Responsible for developing collateral, and media messaging for FAHFH that is widely circulated and communicated via multiple modes of communications to include, but not limited to video, social media- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram- print and website. The Director of Marketing will perform other duties as assigned.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Marketing

  • Prepare comprehensive marketing plan to meet the long-range plan of the affiliate.

  • Develop external collateral to include brochures, annual report, newsletters, etc.

  • Develop external communications to include electronic communications, such as e-news, e-blasts, web content and social media.

 

Communication

  • Writes all press releases, event invitations and other copy assigned and approved by the Chief Executive Officer.

  • Coordinate all interviews with news media, newspapers and magazine.

  • Arrange radio interviews, television interviews and newspaper interviews for appropriate affiliate staff.

  • Make presentations to churches, civic groups, media and community groups.

 

Public Relations

  • Provide leadership in all public relations activities in support of special events, and fundraisers with input from the Director of Faith and Community Relations and other key staff. 

  • Procure financial and “in-kind” donations from local businesses and the public in support of marketing fundraising events.

 

Administration

  • Provide weekly and monthly reports as required by the Executive Director.

  • Manage logistical, communication and reporting details for special events.

  • Manage logistical and informational details for public relations, marketing and all communication.

 

STANDARDS FOR MEASURING PERFORMANCE:

  • Achieve marketing, communication, and outreach goals.

  • Develop and implement appropriate communication and media systems.

  • Build marketing relationships and enhance the mission of FAHFH.

  • Manage volunteers and employees for best utilization in fulfilling objectives.

  • Initiative and independent action demonstrated in handling tasks assigned.

  • Strong communication with donors, customers, volunteers, partner families and staff.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of communications, marketing, policies and procedures.

 

REPORTING:  Provide monthly, quarterly, and/ or annual reports to CEO per reporting timelines.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Strong communication skills (oral and written) including public speaking and interpersonal communication. Proficient in all Microsoft programs including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Proficient in online social media and web content editors, particularly FaceBook and Wix content editor. Energetic, creative, detail-oriented, flexible, and capable of managing multiple tasks. Self-starter and ability to work both independently and with other staff in a team environment.

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or related professional experience.

  • Experience in supervising and leading employees and volunteers, directing successful teams and accountable of marketing and communications objectives.

  • Experience in communications and marketing environment preferred.

  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and email.

  • Proficient in online social media and web content editors, particularly FaceBook and Wix content editor.

  • Background check required.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to attend off-site meetings occasionally; ability to read documents and correspondence.

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

 

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

 

HOURS:  Full time salaried position at 40+ hours per week, including some evenings and weekends. Must be flexible.

 

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and education.
