Habitat in Collaboration with the City of Fayetteville Breaks Ground on Oakridge Estates |
||||||||||
The Oakridge Estates project is a collaborative effort between FAHFH and the City of Fayetteville to build 49 single family homes on 14.2 acres in a once run-down mobile home park and marks a historic partnership between the two organizations in providing affordable housing in underserved and disinvested communities. Oakridge Estates will be located at the corner of Bunce and Old Bunce roads, right off Cliffdale Road. FAHFH is a City of Fayetteville approved Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) and the City’s role in the project will serve as its major investor while FAHFH’s role is the developer in ensuring affordability of the newly constructed homes for low-to-moderate income homeowners. “Because of this project, 49 families who are currently living as renters in substandard housing will know the value of homeownership and have the opportunity to invest in this community,” said Tammy Laurence, chief executive officer at FAHFH. Infrastructure development will take approximately nine months, with housing construction being broken down in blitz phases. The projected completion date for Oakridge Estatesis September 2021. The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony. Attendees will include City of Fayetteville officials, Cumberland County officials, community partners, faith community representatives and Habitat staff. The Oakridge Estates project is one of many affordable housing development projects funded by the City’s Economic & Community Development Department, which will also be highlighted in future press releases from the City.
