Habitat Director Accepts Scholarship for Harvard Management Course

Tammy Laurence, executive director of Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity (FAHFH), plans to attend the Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management (SPNM) course at Harvard University. Laurence was among over 200 applicants from Habitat affiliates around the globe. The scholarship was awarded to only seven directors.

The SPNM is designed for nonprofit executive directors and chief executive officers who are responsible for driving the organization’s direction, mission, policies, and major programs.

SPNMwill take place July 13-19, 2014.  This is an intensive week of interactive learning onsite at the Harvard Business School (HBS) campus residential executive facilities, during which participants examine their missions and develop new strategies for the new global economy. Taught by a team of faculty members from HBS and other graduate schools within Harvard University, the program features management cases and materials drawn from a wide variety of social enterprises.

“I am honored to attend the SPNM course at the Harvard Business School. All of Cumberland County will benefit from this award and training as we look to take Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity to the next level and provide even more homes and services for those in need,” said Laurence, who has been with FAHFH since November 2013.
