Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity (FAHFH) is pleased to announce it has received a $100,000 grant from the Simply East Fund that will provide the foundation for FAHFH launching a critical repair program in the B Street area as part of its neighborhood revitalization efforts.

A check presentation ceremony will take place at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 20 at the Minor Street Church of God, 505 Minor Street.

“This grant provides the resources needed to do critical repairs to homes in an area that we have identified as a priority for neighborhood revitalization. There is no doubt that families living in homes in desperate need of repair will see a change in their community.” said Tammy Laurence, FAHFH CEO. “We see these hard-working families as the backbone of the history of Fayetteville, and we are delighted that Simply East Fund has agreed to be one of our investors.

The neighborhood revitalization effort for the B Street area has been operating for two years. FAHFH has facilitated the successful organization of a coalition made up of residents, business owners, faith leaders, city council representatives, and community volunteers. This coalition is the first step of the asset-based community development program used to revitalize neighborhoods.

The Simply East Fund grant will enable the FAHFH affiliate to address the critical needs of families and elderly individuals living in low to moderate income housing that may be considered substandard based on living conditions. The homes targeted may need roofing due to leaking; flooring due to holes or broken wood; and weatherization and repair of other structural issues.

Funds will be allocated to supplies needed for home repair, staffing, and volunteer management materials.
