Daughter of Habitat Homeowners Pays it Forward During Home Dedications

Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity (FAHFH) will host its 137th home dedication at 2 PM on Sunday, March 23, at 510 Candleberry Court.

Ms. Walonda Owens, a Better Days Home Health employee and a Cumberland County Schools bus driver, and her two daughters, ages 11 and 14, will be presented with the keys to their new home by a Wells Fargo representative. Wells Fargo will be acknowledged for their generous contribution to the construction of Ms. Owens home.

Ms. Shante Elliott, daughter of Habitat homeowners Inita and Rowland McLucas, will donate a home library to the Owens family. The donation will include 30 educational and inspirational books, bookshelves and bedroom décor for Ms. Owens’ girls. Ms. Elliott was three years old when her parents received the keys to their home on Buxton Blvd. in 1992. As part of the ever-growing Habitat “family”, Ms. Elliott wants to show her support for future homeowners, encourage a love for learning and higher education, and help Habitat families realize the full potential of being a homeowner. Ms. Elliott hopes to make a donation of books and other educational resources at all future FAHFH home dedications.

The public is invited to join FAHFH staff, board members, Wells Fargo representatives and Cumberland County Schools’ employees to see how FAHFH is impacting lives in Fayetteville and Cumberland County through homeownership.

Please call FAHFH at (910) 483-0952, or Ruthie Dent at (910) 309-2760 for more information.
