WHAT: Contrary to its mission, Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity (FAHFH) has offered up a home to be destroyed- for training. Through a joint venture with the NC Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the City of Fayetteville Police and Fire departments, a dilapidated home on Hedgepeth Street will be used for a training exercise for 22 students seeking fire investigator certification.

Highly trained instructors will start controlled burns in sections of the property to demonstrate the basics of fire investigations for police officers and fire fighters.

The dilapidated home was acquired by FAHFH during the transaction of the land on Hedgepeth Street where five new Habitat homes have been built in the last year. Once the existing home is demolished, the land will be used for the construction of a park.
